i am 18 years old and have never really played a musical instrument seriously before and now i want to play guitar. how hard will it be to learn to play at this age. it seems that everyone else i know who plays has been playing since a lot younger when it is easier for the brain to pick things up. is it even worth my time to start playing at this point? how good will i be able to get if i have never really been much of a music person before?
Just do it. I’m 21 and I want to start playing the piano because I realize I’ve got talent. I keep forming these uplifting melodies in my head, and it’s unbearable because I can’t get it out and play it for everyone to hear! But i think it’s best to go for guitar lessons by a professional then you can also learn the musical notation which allows you to do more. It’s never to late, and believe me I think there’s more determination when you’re older because you understand more and it’s you that wants to learn not someone else forcing, so the brain will be for more responsive, besides it’s not like you’re forty or something, you’re brain’s still fresh.
So just go for it and good luck!
