: At what point is it that you can “play guitar”?
Okay, Hello!
well i’m “teaching” myself how to play the guitar.
I got a teach your self guitar book
Im practicing the chords and transition etc..
BTW-i have taken some guitar lessons (so i do know the strings,how to tune, picking,holding the guitar, etc..)
so when i learn all the chords-is that when i officialy know how to play the guitar?

I decided to start describing myself as a guitar player when I knew lots of chords, and could get through several songs. However, I’m still working on speed so I can play riffs and such. I don’t think you can get much credibility as a guitarist until you can do some of the fancy stuff, but your definition is enough for me. It’s highly subjective.
