Online Acoustic Guitar Course for Beginners

I was recently involved in a situation that led me to ask if an online acoustic guitar course would be a better way to learn than private lessons. About a year ago my daughter received an acoustic guitar and started taking private lessons. When we first started looking for a guitar instructor, I was surprised at how difficult it was to find one that had any openings. We finally found a pretty good instructor, but it took a couple of months and he could only give lessons on Wednesdays at 10:30 in the morning, and only for 30 minutes. Not only were the lessons expensive (.00 each time), but they weren’t long enough and they were at a very inconvenient time. The instructor also had a habit of cancelling at the last minute because something had come up. I soon decided that there had to be a better way.

I went online and searched for an online acoustic guitar course for beginners. I found some courses and was impressed by one in particular called Jamorama. Jamorama was very affordable compared to other courses that I reviewed. The entire course cost less than one session with the private instructor we were currently using.

The Jamorama course is comprehensive all-in-one program that offers you an introductory six part guitar course as a free trial and a 60 day money back guarantee as well. We downloaded our free trial, immediately bought the course and never looked back.

One of the claims made by Jamorama, that I also agree with, is that it can take anyone from the total beginner level to being an advanced guitarist. I have watched my daughter’s playing skills improve. She enjoys her lessons, does not feel the pressure of her instructor’s presence, and goes at her own pace.

Almost half of all students stop their guitar lessons within six months because they either get bored or don’t get the expected results. Jamorama is actually fun to use and the results are quite good. It has been well over six months for us now, and I personally cannot say enough about Jamorama. I feel that Jamorama offers the best online acoustic guitar lessons for beginners that I have seen.

So, if you are tired of spending too much money and want to achieve great online guitar course at the same time, visit my website and take a look at Jamorama. If your interests lie purely in how to learn acoustic guitar, Jamorama also has a program dedicated specifically to acoustic guitar instuction.

Boston, MA (PRWEB) November 17, 2010

Berkleemusic, the online continuing education division of Berklee College of Music, is unveiling an exclusive new online course with guitar legend, Grammy award-winning artist, and Berklee alum, Steve Vai. Steve Vai Guitar Techniques provides an unprecedented opportunity for musicians from across the globe to take an “under the hood” look at the work of one of music’s most influential guitarists, learn the secrets behind Steve’s unique playing style, and incorporate Steve’s techniques into their own playing. The Steve Vai Guitar Techniques online course builds upon the guitar curriculum Berklee has been providing to students for decades.

“What’s fascinating to me is that the barriers to learning music directly from recognized experts – whether it’s myself or the rest of Berklee’s renowned guitar faculty – no longer exist with online music education,” said Vai. “I’m intimately involved in creating this course, from the crafting of the lesson content, to providing hours of never-before-seen video, and even a dedicated live chat between myself and the online students. This truly is an evolution in the way to teach and learn guitar.”

Since Berkleemusic’s inception, more than 30,000 students from over 130 countries have studied online. Steve Vai Guitar Techniques is another powerful addition to Berkleemusic’s extensive guitar curriculum, which in 2007 received the Distance Learning College Course Award for Guitar Chords 101 from the University Professional and Continuing Education Association. Berkleemusic currently offers over a dozen online guitar courses authored and led by Berklee’s esteemed faculty covering all areas of study, both genre-based and technique based.

“We are excited and privileged to have Steve Vai join our portfolio of renowned course authors,” said Debbie Cavalier, Berklee’s Dean of Continuing Education. “This new course and partnership with Vai is a natural evolution of our ongoing dedication to providing innovative courses and incredible opportunities to students around the world.”

Steve Vai Guitar Techniques presents students with the chance to gain a deep understanding of Vai’s death-defying playing styles, repertoire, techniques and musical concepts. This 12-week online course will not only teach students to craft and perform lead lines like those in “Tender Surrender,” “For the Love of God” and “The Attitude Song,” but also will teach students Vai’s distinctive and seemingly impossible techniques such as two-hand tapping, sweep picking, sliding, pull-offs and other ear-bending licks. Each lesson will include play exercises, listening examples, hours of exclusive video, song transcriptions, a performance assignment and more. The course is taught by Vai and members of Berklee College of Music’s guitar department, who provide all students with detailed and personalized feedback on their work on a week-to-week basis.

The course is now open for enrollment for the school’s winter term which begins on January 10, 2011. For more information regarding the course, registration information and to even sample a guitar course, visit Berkleemusic.com. Additional course offerings include Guitar Chords 101, Guitar Scales 101, Blues Guitar, Class Rock Guitar and Rock Guitar Soloing and many more.

Complete Guitar Course – What Does It Consist Of?

You have probably seen some of the popular online guitar courses for beginners. However, you have difficulty making the right choice as you are worried of wasting time and money on an incomplete course. You are looking for one that will show you everything step by step and explain in details with videos. Yet you do not know what a complete guitar course consists of.

As guitar beginners, you will likely to be clueless of the contents that should be taught. Find out what are the 5 components of a complete guitar course:

1. Full Beginner to Advanced Lessons

The course should provide a series of lessons from beginner, intermediate to advanced level. It should start off with the basics such as holding your guitar, sitting and standing positions, holding a pick and learning the frets. Next, it should cover all the major guitar techniques (like strumming, alternate picking, bending, finger picking, hammer-ons, pull-offs, slide, vibrato, legato, palm muting), common chord types (major, minor, dominant seventh, minor seventh, major seventh and suspended 4) and major styles of music (like rock, metal, blues, jazz, country). Reading tablature is also one of the important skills to be included as it enables you to learn almost any song you like.

The lessons should be in sequence where each module is built on the previous one. A play along track should be included within each lesson so that you can practice what you had learned so far. A structured course will enable you to see the improvement and feel the satisfaction each week.

2. Video Lessons

The guitar lessons should be complemented with high quality video demonstrations. They will make learning new skills easy with built-in animated chords, progressions and strumming patterns. Both hands and notation are shown so that you can see clearly where to place your fingers on the fretboard as well as how to strum it.

3. Chord Book

A complete guitar course would come with a chord reference book. Chord changes is the most difficult skill to master for beginners. Remembering the chord shapes is not easy either. Hence, a good chord book will come in handy as and when you need reference to it. The chords should be presented with clear diagrams and accompanied with high resolution photos to help you visualize and grasp each new chord.

There are different variations for playing each chord. Moving from one chord to another can be really hard and sometimes all you need to do is to change the way you form the chord. It will be great if the book includes different variations for each chord. You can experiment the different chord formations and find the most appropriate shape to each progression.

4. Guitar Care and Maintenance

A guitar course would be complete with information on setting it up and maintaining it. As guitar players, we should have basic knowledge of how to clean our guitar, protect it from moisture and heat, buy a new one to suit our style of playing, select new parts to improve its sound, change the strings, check the intonation, tuning it and cleaning it.

5. Games

Besides the main course materials, it will be great if effective games are added to improve your guitar playing. They will make learning fun and challenging. The ability to recognize chords simply by hearing them and reading music are essential skills of a guitar player. Games enable you to revise what you had learned and will also speed up your learning process.

A complete guitar course consists of beginner to advanced lessons in a combination of digital books, videos and games, as well as a chord book and information on care and maintenance. It is designed in an effective way of teaching yourself guitar so that any beginner can follow through the course easily.

Music has always played a big part in children’s lives, from their favorite children’s songs to the music played on children’s television programs. The educational benefits that music provides have been known for centuries. For children, research has shown that the effects of music education have had a positive and long lasting impact. As well, studies now show that music education will have a positive impact well into adulthood.

Below is a list of the music education benefits for children:

Physical Development of the Brain: The brain of a child is constantly developing. Early musical training helps a child’s brain physically develop the part of the left side that is involved with processing language. Musical training can actually wire the brain’s circuits in specific ways that improves brain’s function.

Boost Spatial Intelligence: There have been many studies that have shown that music education helps a child develop the ability to form mental pictures and perceive the world correctly. That is, a child will better develop the ability to visualize how things are put together which helps with the development of keen problem solving skills. A child is better able to develop critical thinking skills.

Improve Creative and Innovative Thinking: Music education helps children learn to imagine various solutions to a problem and process these solutions to rule out possible solutions in an effort to come up with the correct solution. Children will learn to think outside the box when faced with a challenging problem. There have been studies that have shown that students who have had a musical education, score higher on standardized tests and achieve higher grades in school.

Appreciation for Hard Work: Children who have a music education will learn the rewards of working towards and achieving a specific goal. They learn the value of a sustained effort to achieve excellence and the discipline that is required to accomplish a goal. They learn that the rewards of hard work results in a successful performance.

Teamwork Skills: When in a school band or another music organization, children develop a strong work discipline and teamwork skills. They will work with other music students as a team to achieve excellence in their musical performance. As well, they will benefit from practicing with other students in a harmonious manner.

Self-Expression: Music education helps children learn how to express themselves in creative and healthy ways which will lead to developing excellent communication skills. Through self-expression, children’s self-confidence and self-esteem will be boosted. They will be more likely to take on challenges in other areas of their lives. Children will get in touch with their feelings and will be able to understand and manage their emotions in a productive way. As well, it teaches them to conquer their fears, insecurities, and overcome shyness. Many studies have been conducted that have shown the positive impact of music on brain development. Children will learn to be more open and confident in all areas of their lives, including school. The development of excellent communication skills, study skills, and cognitive skills, will greatly benefit their school studies. Recent research suggests that exposure to music may benefit a child’s IQ, reading age, memory, and the development of certain parts of the brain.

For parents who want their child to have every opportunity in life, providing them with a quality ecole musique education will help them open many doors of opportunities in the future. Music is a powerful tool and can dramatically improve and enrich the lives of the children. It just makes sense for parents to encourage their children to participate in a academie de musique.

Music teachers know the top tips for selecting the best music school for your children. Following their advice is really the way to go. Here are the most often recommended tips from top music experts.

Learn what music schools are available in your local area. If need be, prepare to travel a distance to find what you want. Not all areas have many in town. Once you have looked over the choices, narrow them to at least 3 top contenders. Research them online, if they websites. Then, make appointments to speak with each school director. Be certain to schedule your visit when you may see a class or two in action, or a recital.

You will, of course, be given brochures and fliers will all sorts of tuition and school policy information. But that is just the start of your observations. Look around at the facility. See if students seem to be generally happy, and if there is a kind of buzzing or busy atmosphere. This will indicate that students are engaged in learning. Check the rooms for orderliness, cleanliness, and respectful attitudes toward students and faculty. If the restrooms are clean and tidy, then it is likely that the management is solid, too. Look for all levels of performers at recitals, and listen for prepared students of all ages.

Set up an interview lesson with the teachers that are either recommended for your children, or that interest you most from their resume information. Music schools generally employ a range of experienced to newer teachers. You will want to consider their educational backgrounds, years of teaching experience, expectations, and teaching methods. Use the time to ask about books they use, technical exercises, and repertoire your child might explore.

Having a lesson with a teacher gives the teacher an opportunity to work with the prospective student and show their teaching abilities to parents. It also gives each child a chance to study with the teacher and think about whether or not they like that person. Children often have intuition like radar about getting along with people.

Ask your child which teacher he or she liked the best. Including them in the process is crucial, because they are the ones who will be taking the lessons. You want them to enjoy the lessons enough to stick with it. You may discover that an excellent teacher is not the one who has the most experience. Your child may also discover that a very old teacher can be lots of fun while teaching well.

Know that music lessons function best as a triangle relationship with parents, teacher, and student all working together to help the student succeed. You will get a feeling about the teachers you interview. Listen to your own intuition, too. Quality people tend to produce quality teaching. A well-spoken, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic teacher will tend to have great lessons. These may very well provide a successful music learning environment.

Though many established schools like Academie de musique de Montreal will ask you to sign a contract for at least a semester, and possibly a year, do not sign anything until you have taken the time to consider each offer. Having an unhappy learning experience is really not worth the discount you may be offered if you sign up the day you visit. Take your time with every brochure, flier, school policy sheet, and resume you have collected. Make comparisons of everything available. Keeping your budget in mind, do select the most qualified teacher you can afford that worked best with your children. These excellent tips for selecting the best ecole musique Montreal for your children should help you. Expert teachers use them for their own children, too.

Music lessons are available at ecole de musique a Montreal, your home or in our studios acrossMontreal and suburbs. Visit Ecole musique Montreal 6503 avenue de Chateaubriand, Montreal, QC H2S 2N6 (514) 376-8742 ?

Whoever said that age is only a state of the mind and that learning is a recurring process must have been on point. Whatever age one is, it is never too late to learn to play the piano for as long as one has the interest to learn. When it comes to playing this musical instrument, age is besides the point. Age should never be viewed as an impediment to climbing the musical ladder.

There are many reasons that may stop one from pursuing this dream at a younger age. Life circumstances may be a cause one not to take these lessons or just lack of interest in playing the instrument. It may seem intimidating playing the piano and more especially for those who are elderly. It may seem hard during the first days but with time, learners may realize that it is not as hard as it appears.

Fortunately, the internet has made it easy for people to learn the piano regardless of their age bracket or engagements in life. The online lessons not only offer easy and flexible time schedules, it also offers a lot of expediency for learners. Learners can take the lessons at the comfort of their homes without having to worry about attending full time classes. This flexibility allows learners to learn the fundamental piano lessons including music chords and piano scales among other piano basic ideas.

Online lessons are very practical and effective. Most of them offer students with an opportunity to see how they have worked well for previous students. Taking the lessons step by step will present the learner with an opportunity to master the basic concepts.

This also furnishes them with excellent skills that they need to play the piano to the best tune. An individual thinking of enrolling for the course can select from the various programs available online. Though the teaching methods are different, but the basic concepts remain the same.

It is also advisable for learners to get themselves a keyboard to complement their lessons. A keyboard helps learners to master most of the basics that will be essential in handling the piano. At the end of the day, what is important is to remember that one is never too old to learn how to play the piano. Upon completing the program individuals may just realize that they have what it takes to play the piano confidently.

Teaching modes may vary, but there are different ways to lookout for the course that is right for each individual. The most important thing is to get rid of the thought that one is too old to play the piano. Online piano lessons are meant to start off the beginner slowly, as they step up the pace as learners build their skill and confidence.

Clearly, with all these knowledge, it’s never too late to learn to play the piano. In fact being able to take the ecole musique Montreal lessons at an individual’s pace will make them to master the lessons quickly.
