Classical guitar – how can I learn to play artificial harmonics?

I’ve been playing classical for over 14 years now and just never got around to learning how to play artificial harmonics very well. I’d greatly appreciate any tips, or maybe even some websites/videos. I don’t want to go and teach myself, then have to go back and get rid of any bad habits I’ve gotten myself hooked into.

Thanks!

Understanding that classical guitarists do not use thumb picks, I can only recommend by obtaining artificial harmonics is to:

Press the note in the fret with the left hand and then, exactly 12 frets upward, place the forefinger atop the string ever so lightly and simultaneously pluck that selected string with the thumbnail.

For example, if you want to play an artificial harmonic of G on the sixth string you would press in the third fret and catch the harmonic in the 15th fret with the forefinger and the thumb in an instantaneous plucking and removal maneuver. (Added: the thumb needn’t be in the same fret where the forefinger is resting. It is almost impossible. Simply pluck and lift off the string instantaneously until the bell-tone sounds.)

The exercise takes a good deal of concentrated effort to get the bell-tone ringing clearly.

I hope this clarifies your question.
