Question by NotMy R: “GUITAR” Fastest way to increase my frethand speed?
Anyone have any tips to increase my speed on guitar for my fret hand as well as picking techniques. Ive been learning some sweeps, but wow def not as easy as it seems, i mean they sound wonderful but wow and is it really worth it to slow down and learn to read music or am i fine without it.

a couple of thoughts …
* correct hand position. Make sure your thumb is in the
middle of the guitar neck.
* one finger per fret … or in other words “use your pinky”.
also make sure you’re playing on the tips of your fingers.
this is an inclination to play on the pinkie pad .. break that
habit.
* exercise your hammer-ons/pull-offs “H&P” consider fingers
1-4, make sure to practice H&P between fingers 1-2, 2-3,
3-4, 1-3, 2-4, 1-4.
* record yourself. You may be getting faster but not really
noticing. recording yourself provides some good
benchmarks of past play.
* buy a metronome and time yourself. Set goals.
* do a youtube search on “allan holdsworth” or “buckethead”
