Ok so i ve always wanted to learn how to play the guitar but i camt get a teacher cuz my mom makes a big deal about it anyway i wannalearn by myself any ideas? When your ready to learn some songs try Chordie, It is a search engine that gets Tab and Chord sheets from many different sites on the web. Check out the public song books, there are lots of them for beginners, so you should be able to find a few that match your personal taste in music.

Lessons are the best way to learn, so look into classes at your school, local Community College, or Adult Learning Center. They often have classes that will show you the basics, and are very cheap, sometimes even free.
Btw; I would recommend getting an electronic tuner if you don't already have one, it helps a lot.
