I recently got a guitar and am trying to learn how to play it but my left hand isn’t strong enough to be able to do it what can I do that will help make it stronger so I don’t feel like I am fighting myself the whole time
Hey Dark Side
First, make sure your had is always parallel to the fingerboard as this will allow to do finger stretch with the pinky.
Here is what I suggest. Practice on the 5-6-7-8th fret as this is the easiest to play and will develop the correct wrist position.
Now, use 1st finger on 5th fret, then the 2nd finger on 6th, 3rd on 7th and pinky on 8th.
The secret is to play each fret with one finger but here is the catch. Play the 1st note, play the 2nd but still keeping the 1st on the fret. Play the 3rd, leave it on the fret and then the 4th.
Do this on all the string. When you get to the small string and ready to move back.
Do the same. Play each note without lifting the fingers and work yourself up to the 6th string.
Then do the reverse, 4-3-2-1 , all the way to the small string. Then 1-2-3-4, all the way to the big string.
ALTERNATE PICK EVERY NOTE, NO EXCEPTION.
