I’ve been looking for information on calluses and i want to know how the are developed and why you need them to play guitar.
when you develop calluses, they help to protect your hands and feet more. the reason we develop calluses on our feet is so that they aren’t as sensitive to the ground. it’s the same with playing guitar. once your fingers get used to the toughness of the strings on a guitar (especially the steel strings), they will develop calluses so that you won’t feel pain much anymore. the difficult part of beginning guitar, especially acoustic, is that it can be quite painful to your fingers. that’s where the calluses come to the rescue. without them, it would be quite difficult to play guitar, especially for long amounts of time.
