i know how to play it but, what do you do when there’s a lot of chords on the sheet and you cant like…play them all since they across the whole frets, so can you leave the minor chords out and play the major? (or is this the normal way of playing the bass?)

chords on the bass are usually played somewhere on the d and g strings on the 9th fret and above. to play a major chord you play this
