Guitar Courses Reviewed: Most Aren't Worth A Lick!

How easy is self teaching yourself to play guitar?

I'm gonna get an acoustic guitar, but I don't really want to take lessons. Could I teach myself from books and stuff?

Hey, I am self-taught so it is possible!!

Here are some tips:

BUZZING OR MUFFLED NOTES:
If a note buzzes, or sounds odd when you strike it, try squeezing the string more tightly, and make sure that your finger is positioned just behind but no on top of the fret.

Dont get discouraged.

Dont force yourself to play if your fingers are sore.

It takes alot of practice…and you can get easily frustrated but dont give up!

Here is the order I recommend of learning chords:
MAJOR
MINOR
BARRÉ ( BAR)
DIMINISHED
SEVENTH
ECT…

also learn your music theory..I know it can be boring but its worth it!
Learn scales
and your notes
If you want a good book on theory, go with a book by Don J. Maclean, or Hal Leonord.

Any books by Hal Leonard will get you started.

Here are a few sites I highly recommend:
e-chords.com
chordie.com
chordbook.com
justinguitar.com
jguitar.com
youtube.com

Well, youtube.com has alot of lessons.

I hope this helps, Indy
