Guitar Courses Reviewed: Most Aren't Worth A Lick!

How long did it take you to learn the electric guitar?

When I get mine I’m going to practice every moment I can. We are allowed to take them to HS and play them during our break. How long did it take you to learn the guitar?
I learned the flute in a week
I learned the piano in 2 weeks
(obviously it may take me longer depending on the instrument) and I’ll play until my fingers bleed.
plus there’s 2 boys that can really play and they can teach me a few chords.

When you say you "learned" an instrument in a certain amount of time, it is kind of misleading. does this mean you have ‘mastered" that instrument? Can you play any song you wish on the Instruments you have named?

A person can become "proficient" on a guitar in about a year and a half to two years, assuming you get the proper amount of practice time (2-4 hours a day) but to become a virtuoso, it will not only take many years, but you will have to have an innate ability to play the instrument in the first place.

Regardless of practice time, not everyone has what it takes to be a master.
