I just bought an electric guitar yesterday and i started playing and it just seems so hard to do. I also have a bass guitar which i began playing, but am putting on hold so i can learn this. How long did it take you to learn to play sufficiently enough so you can read tabs while you play? i hope you can understand what i am asking.
depending on the person.. I usualy teach my students .. first all of the major chords.. and note names on the top 2 strings…. wich takes a week or 2 for them to get the hang of it.. and it does take time to get the fingers to mover right so you can switch chords fast.. then I usualy show them some scales like pentotonic and ionian .. just to get them use to moving there fingers.. and then i will sometimes start showing them easy songs with power chords… .. just depends on the person.. but in a months time you will see a great improvement..
