I’m a beginning student of about 8 months. How long does it take to get really good, say at a band/public performance level? I practice about 1 – 2 hours a day and have private lessons.
I would say about 2 years, but that depends on how much you practice. I believe that talent only accounts for 10%, and the rest is all practice. A daily practice routine is what matters. Even if you’re busy and strapped for time, just 10 minutes a day will merit greater skill than cramming it all in one day a week. It’s good that you practice everyday, because it’s the constant, consistent routine that will make you a great bassist. NOW GO PRACTICE!!
