How should I practice playing guitar?

I’m Absolutely new with playing guitar. I am aiming to play in a rock band someday and I wonder how I should practice playing guitar.

Like, the basics and such.
I try to press down the stringstipst my fingers are soo weak and my hand is pretty small, so I fail with trying most chords.

I also wonder how long it will take for me to be able to play in a basic rock band. And how much I should practice everyday.

Start off by working on your chords and strumming. This is absolutely the most important thing to start with. So many new guitarist’s don’t learn chords but learn tabs instead so that they can play songs. While tabs are a good tool for learning riffs and solo’s it is so much more important to learn your chords. Some good practice routines would be to just start with the basics. First play a G and strum 4 times, then switch to a C and strum 4 times, then to a D and strum 4 times, back to C strum 4 times and then to G and it starts over. Do that everyday until you get it down. Do the same thing with E, A, D. this will improve your counting, strumming and chord changes. Learning guitar takes a lot of practice and patients, and you should practice at the very least 30 minutes a day although I would recommend an hour or more every day. The amount you practice will reflect how quickly you progress. As for playing in a basic rock band it will take you at least a year or two. Many people learn a few basic power chords and want to start a band, but have absolutely no idea what it really takes. If you really have a desire to be any good spend as much time as you can working on learning new skills and perfecting them to the best of your ability. Guitar is not to hard, it just takes a lot of practice, patience and dedication. I hope this helps. Good luck!
