I can learn accoustic and electric guitar at the same time, right?

i got an acoustic guitar from my grandpa and he is gonna teach me t play a little, but after i get back from vacationing i want t get an electric guitar, too. i can learn both at the same time, right? the reason i want to know is i want to put the accoustic guitar to use but I’m gonna be practicing with a band and we are mostly gonna use electric.

Yes, you certainly can. the feel is very different. I play semi-pro, and unless there’s some serious shreding to be done, I use my Takamine ESF-93(an acoustic) with a tube driver, dual digital distortion, programmable digital delay, chorus and just to make things interesting, a Roland GR-09 guitar synth which allows me to do sax, organ, and even trumpet solos ;-)

Acoustic has it’s advantages in that it strenghtens your hand, develops good hard callouses (which really affects the sound of both acoustic and electric) and you’ll find that when you switch to electric, you’re much faster owing to the low action on the electric.
