I have a question about playing the electric guitar?

I have only just started playing guitar adn recently bought a Epiphone Les Paul Special II and i have a few questions

What does the tone knob do?

What is bass and treble?

Also on my switch i can switch from rhythm to treble what does that mean?

My amp is a Marshall MG 30 dfx in case you need it

Thanks!

The tone know surprisingly controls tone. The best way for me to describe this is the feel of the sound. Tone turned down would be a muddier sound while tone all the way up would be a much clearer bright sound. Higher tone usually means more volume also. The bass controls the low end and allows you to give that more of a boost or suppress it. Treble controls the high end. Bass usually associates with heavier/deep sounds while the treble gives you those clear tinny sounds. The switch is a pickup selector. Rhythm should be the neck pick up and the treble should be the bridge pickup. Rhythm gives a fuller more smooth sound, perfect for rhythm guitar. Treble gives you a sharper more bright sound perfect for soloing and melodies.

All of this is a general description but the best thing to do is to play around with the knobs to understand how the sounds feel. This way you can make a sound that you like and you will learn how to adjust it to get that perfect sound. Hope that helps.
