Okay so i bought this electric guitar with the amp, but i have no guitar pick. Any begginer tutorials outthere to getting me started with the basics and jumping on towards playing music??
I kinda am just doing this as a hobby, but i have no where to began from =]
Please also, im not willing to pay for lessons or expensive DVD tutorials, im just 15
A pick isn't really essential for playing, especially if you're just starting out. There are a ton of things on youtube that you can find to help you get started playing guitar.
I recommend that you do two things.
1. Even if you can read sheet music, you should learn to read tablature. Guitar tabs are a very easy and convenient way to read and write music for string instruments. Basically, there are 6 lines, one for each string. Instead of notes (A-G), there are numbers on each line which corresponds to the nubered fret you play. Sounds complicated, but really it's not.
2. Learn to play basic chords. Many songs use G, C, Am, and D chords. Those four chords can give you a basic framework to play easier songs.
The most important thing though is to stick with it. Your fingers will hurt a little, and you'll sound terrible for some time, but eventually it'll all be worth the effort.
