Okay I want to learn how to play the electric guitar. Which one should I get and how long is it going to take me to learn? I know how to play the alto saxophone. I'm into Linkin Park, Korn, Slipknot, Green Day, Disturbed, and Avenged Sevenfold. Thanks alot guys!
I started on a Squire Stratocaster. These guitars are cheap but have decent playability and are plenty for a beginner. Dont go crazy and get something too expensive, especially new, because if you lose interest or find you dont really like it then you're out a bunch of money. If you really get into it, then upgrade to something more like an Ibanez S-Series (my personal favorite guitars). Start slow, get some beginner books, and get lessons, even if its just a couple to get you going. Im sure you will learn Smoke on the Water first just like most of us did. Guitar is partially learned skill and partially born into you, I think. Dont get discouraged because it is a difficult and painful instrument to learn, but it is so worth it!
