Well the acoustic guitar and electric guitar techniques can be very similar and very different. You should play electric, but you should learn power chords, pentetonic scales, and how to solo. Less strumming and more picking is important for electric. Also, you need to have decent left handed finger speed(if u play right handed) and a good knowledge of the fretboard. All electric players learned acoustic first, so your off to a good start. Keep with it! its soo fun!
