Name Swap to Fund Charity and Studies

Sydney-based company SwapAce.com has placed a $ 20,000 bid for New Yorker Cody Baker to ‘swap’ his name to ‘SwapAce.com’ for cash to be used to support a charity and his own future. Cody will legally change his name to the name chosen by the highest bidder.
SwapAce.com is an Internet-based market which was started in 2004 in a garage in Sydney by a team of young Aussies ‘just out of university’. Cody Baker is a U.S. Marine who has served six months in the Middle East and his wife recently had a baby. Cody wants to raise money both to support an orphanage in Thailand and to help him finish college.
Through the Internet based ‘Choose My Name’ project Cody is hoping to raise awareness for the Im Jai House, an orphanage in Thailand that helps children whose parents have died from AIDS. Cody will donate part of the winning ‘Choose My Name’ bid to the Im Jai House.
