I’m learning the to play the guitar but can’t seem to play a C, I guess I hold down other strings on accident. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to play a C?
If not is there an easier chord that I can play instead of a C?
The E chord is easier. Plus, learning to play the E chord will also help you learn to identify if the guitar is in tune or not because guitars are most often tuned to E.
If a chord doesn’t sound clean, you may not be pressing the strings down all the way or you may be touching the other strings with an adjacent finger. Try pressing the strings at a more ninety degree angle. Don’t forget to deep your fingernails short.
It can be difficult when you are first learning but it will become easier with practice. Your fingers may get sore until they toughen up, but this is normal until the calluses thicken on your fingertips
