Learn To Play Heavy Metal Guitar

Learn to Play Heavy Metal Guitar

Learning to play heavy metal guitar is an art. There are several methods that one could use.
You could take lessons that would require you to pack up your equipment several times a week and drive to your lesson where you would wait for an instructor to show you step by step. You may want to learn just heavy metal guitar. Most instructors don’t just teach this.

There are several online training courses available that can teach you exactly what you want to learn, when you want to learn it.

This will teach you what you want to learn which includes:

Basic One Finger Heavy Metal Guitar Chords-

The chord is known as E and is the lowest Chord in this tuning.

2 Note Metal Chords-

This chord may be referred as a Barre Chord

Play Power Chords-

A Power Chord is basically the same as a Heavy Metal Chord but you’re adding one more note on top of it.

Changing Chord Notes-

A chord often found in rock and metal songs is where they strike a chord and then step down one of the notes in the chord, in this case the top note. This is easy to learn.

Play Chord Sequences and Octaves-

As you become more confident with playing the Heavy Metal Chord, you can start
to play notes in between while changing from one chord to another.

Crunching your Chords-

To get an extra bit of crunch from your guitar, you will hold the plectrum in a different
way so that the tip is slightly covered by about 2mm of thumb. When you play the sound is crisper.

String Exercises-

Doing these will give your fingers and hands the opportunity to warm up which
will help prevent you getting any injuries, just like any athlete does before they start competing.

Pentatonic Scale-

This is probably one of the most used scales in rock and Heavy Metal. There are many other scales, but there are guitarists who have made entire careers out of this one scale.
The great thing about this scale is it is very easy to learn, but spruce it up with cool tricks, hammer-ons, pull-offs which you will eventually learn.
Also, you’ll find this scale very hard hitting and can be heard right from the back of a gig, even at full volume. This is what playing heavy metal guitar is all about.
Master this scale and you will know enough to be able to sound like a professional metal guitarists in no time.

Natural Harmonics and Forced Harmonics-

A Natural Harmonic generally speaking, is a higher note created by lightly touching the string over a given fret rather fretting the note as normal. The easiest natural harmonics to produce are by resting your fingers directly above the 12th fret.

Bending the Notes and Vibrato-

With vibrator, you are basically vibrating the note up and down but at a quick rate. If you have a tremolo arm then you can use that as well to get a different effect.

Alternate Picking-

Learning Alternate Picking is an absolute must if you want to play Heavy Metal Guitar, because it is used in both Rhythm guitar and Lead Guitar.

Hammer-Ons and Pull-Offs and Basic Finger Tapping-

When a guitarist plays a solo, they will rarely be plucking every note individually, they will often be hammering the finger down on to the fretboard which produces a note without plucking the string, or they are pulling off which again creates the note without plucking.

Having this information available at your fingertips lets you learn what you want when it’s convienent for you.

Kansas City, MO (PRWEB) December 1, 2010

Guitarist Douglas Niedt publishes a free guitar technique tip on his website every month. Niedt’s newest and just released guitar technique tip enables almost any guitarist to play a bar chord in under two minutes. This is rather astonishing in the guitar world, as it usually takes months or sometimes years for students to master bar chords. Niedt explains how to do it step by step with six detailed, hi-def video clips. Among other topics, he explains a little-discussed guitar technique of using one’s arm strength to hold barres. This is particularly helpful for beginning guitarists, children, and others who may not have enough hand strength to play a bar chord clearly. Niedt goes on to explain various elements that can go wrong and how to fix them to get the chord to sound clearly.

Niedt often uses humor in his guitar technique tips to get his point across. In this month’s tip he includes a video spoof of the hokey late-night commercials for Ginsu Knives back in the 70′s titled, “Bar Chords–the Ginsu Knives of Guitar Playing.”

Guitar players who visit Douglas Niedt’s website may sign up to receive his Technique Tip of the Month for free. His past tips include topics such as harmonics, vibrato, slurs, playing fast scales, arpeggio techniques, how to practice, performing, and free Christmas arrangements. The tips are highly detailed and most include dozens of musical examples and close-up, high-def video clips. Over 60 free guitar technique tips are available on the site plus software training programs to help students learn the guitar fretboard, guitar theory, and improve their ear training skills. Niedt’s CDs, DVD, and books are also available for sale on the site.

Douglas Niedt is associate professor of guitar at the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music and Dance and a recording and concert artist. Niedt not only teaches at the University of Missouri, but also teaches privately in Kansas City, MO and provides video guitar lessons through his website.

Liberty, MO (PRWEB) July 17, 2009

“I quit my job of 22 years in the healthcare industry to pursue a career in music and art,” said Debora Robinson. “I wanted to share my passion for music and art with others, and incorporate my spiritual life into my work.”

Robinson’s pursuit culminated with the launch of www.GreaterGoodOfAll.com in April 2009. The new website offers a broad selection of music, musical instruments, music lessons, art lessons and supplies, and spiritual books for rejuvenating body and mind.

Robinson hopes to expand the website in the near future with the addition of more instruments including wind instruments, keyboards and drums.

Before the website was launched, Robinson began performing in-depth research on which musical instruments were most often preferred by musicians and repair technicians.

“All the instruments on the website are those I have experience with through personal use, or through friends or professionals in the business.” Robinson asserted that this is also true of all the products and services offered on her website.

Robinson believes her website is most unique because she’s not just in it for profit. “We don’t offer products based on their profit margin, we offer products that provide the best value to our customers.”

With the launch of the new blog at www.GreaterGoodOfAllBlog.com, Robinson hopes to communicate her passion, experience and knowledge of music and art. The blog will feature topics ranging from choosing the right musical instrument to information about meditation and pursuing a more spiritual life.

Robinson hopes others will embrace music and art as an integral part of being human. “Our lives are enhanced through music and art, which make us more spiritual and in turn help us lead better lives,” she said.

About the Company:

GreaterGoodOfAll.com is owned and operated by Debora Robinson, a graduate with a degree in music and music merchandising, a prominent songwriter and performer and a lover of music and art.

You might be surprised to hear that there are songs that use only one chord! While guitar players may differ on the “most correct” way to finger and strum any one chord, you’ll get the most out of this course by following my suggestions and recommendations. Don’t be confused by the white lines on the outer edges of my guitar–it may look like an additional string in certain camera angles. Also, it’s normal for your fingers to hurt at the beginning. This will go away with practice, but that is also why it is important to keep our practice sessions short for now. Let’s start making music!
