Rickenbacker Guitars Highlights

Rickenbacker International Corporation (RIC) is one of the most prominent names in the field of electric guitars manufacturing. RIC finds its base in first company founded as the Electr o String Instrument Corporation by Adolph Rickenbacher and George D. Beauchamp in 1931. This pioneering firm produced aRickenbacker Electro Instrumentsa, the FIRST modern electric guitars

Being a musician of the 1930s, The Beatles in the 60′s or the most-current rock groups on MTV, the Electric Guitars Rickenbacker have always helped in taking the music to new dimensions. Groups like Oasis, Radiohead, Pearl Jam, and many others always have Rickenbacker guitars in their musical arsenal

In modern era, the electric guitars Rickenbacker have retained the same spirit of first-class pre-1965 electric guitar manufacturing and craftsmanship. Today, the company is offering its newly designed guitars and basses, as well as highly successful, limited-edition signature models endorsed by diverse players such as Pete Townshend, Tom Petty, Carl Wilson, John Kay and Roger McGuinn
The electric guitars Rickenbacker are known for their distinctive sounds and are played mainly without distortion. A striking feature of Rickenbacker guitars is the use of two truss rods to correct twists and curvature in the neck. Rickenbacker guitars avoid most hard rock, metal, and punk outfits, though there are some exceptions. Many electric guitars Rickenbacker are equipped with an extra astereoa output socket that allows the two pickups to be connected to different effects units or amplifiers

Some of the most sought-after models of Rickenbacker guitars come from 325, 330, 350, 360, 381, 620, 650 and 660 series. The 325c58 model is characterized by short scale body, oven knobs, gold plastic parts and three toaster pickups. In the 381v69 model, the front and back of body have German-style carve and checkered binding. Stereo output and a 12-saddle bridge are other features of this model

In simple words, each Rickenbacker guitar is characterized by its own unique features. And that is the reason why even 70 years after the invention of modern electrics, thousands of guitar players feel satisfied only with Rickenbacker guitars

Guitar Effects Pedals

If you are serious about the guitar then you may want to consider investing in guitar effects. Guitar effects pedals come in lots of different shapes and sizes. Their main use is to change the way your guitar sounds.

There are thousands of different guitar effects pedals to choose from some new some rare and old – some create sounds that alters your guitar sound so much it is almost unrecognisable as a guitar sound.

Guitar effects pedals come in many different formats. You can get he single effects units – often called stomp boxes and chain them together or you can opt for a multi effects unit that combines lots of effects in one box. There are also other formats such as rack mounted effects units and processors.

For the purpose of this article I am going to illustrate a couple of the most commonly used guitar effects pedals that I consider an essential. I personally use these pedals. These can be easily chained together in whatever way you choose and changed to get the sound that you want from your guitar.

Distortion / overdrive pedals

Whilst the above is in fact two separate pedals the effect they produce are similar. I personally own a distortion pedal but tend to use the amplifiers overdrive effect to get the sound I want.. Basically they take your clean sound and convert it to an overdriven or distorted sound. This gives you a rock type sound found on hundreds of songs.

Wah Pedals

Wah pedals are a great guitar effects pedal. Rather than just an on/off situation this is an expression pedal. It is called a wah pedal because literally, it makes your guitar sound as though it is saying awaha. This is great for slow and fast lead playing and produces some really great results.

Delay Pedals

This adds an echo effect to your sound. Can be used to layer multiple sounds or, more commonly, and in my case, used to beef up your lead sound. It is a subtle difference that can make such a difference to your playing.

Chorus Pedals

Another popular guitar pedal that adds depth to both your clean and distorted tone is the chorus pedal. This thickens the sound by doubling up notes in layers and altering delays in a very subtle way.

With guitar effects pedals there are massive differences in sound quality. Often the more expensive a pedal is, the better it will be. It is also very true, especially with the examples above, the older the pedal is the better quality sound it will produce. As with most things guitar related, they don’t make things like they used to.

Newbie Guitar Chords Lesson

Is there a sound more soulful and more resonant than a well-played guitar? It is the sound of life and the sound of the soul.

You can make it yours.

That is, if you are up for it. Working out the way to read your free guitar chords? If you are teaching yourself to play the guitar, you’ll be reading lots of manuals full of diagrams and notations. The frightening task shouldn’t moisten your interest as it is essentially simple so long as you put your consciousness into it. Imagine now you are looking at a blank diagram. The diagram will represent your guitar. The vertical lines are the six strings of your guitar. The horizontal lines are the frets. Do not count the last line on top. That is your guitar’s nut and nuts should be ignored, no joke intended. The dots will have numbers to point out which finger to use on a specific string. When the dots appear without a number within, it appears like this : O this implies you aren’t going to play the string. You can also learn which finger will be one, two, three, and four. The thumb isn’t included in the count, but is delegated as T. At first, there’ll be some difficulty and awkwardness with the fingers when learning your free guitar chords specifically prepared for beginners’ lessons. Newbies are suggested to focus on the chords, the strumming later.
As each chord is sounded, listen punctiliously to the sound and become used to the feeling of the chord on your fingertips. Getting the feeling of free guitar chords Guitar chords are prepared according to basic chord patterns. The CAGED system represents the major chords : C, A, G, E, and D. This is introduced to prepare newbies for more complicated chords. Constantly later lessons will bring in the F and B chords and the chords with residences and sharps. When the lessons have eventually been learned by heart, the succeeding lessons will be less complicated. Still, you have got to constantly practice with free guitar chords to polish your craft. When you are downloading free guitar chords, get video demos to bolster your guitar instructions while you are at it.

By watching how the chords are played, you’ll be boosting your playing style. As a new person to guitar playing, you almost certainly place one finger at a time on the strings. This can be unwieldy later when you have to change chords fast. Make finger exercises part of your routine to help touch all of the required strings at any particular time. This exercise needs placing your fingers on the strings, lifting your fingers, and placing your fingers on the well regarded strings at the same time. Repetition will help you perfect the talent. Indeed, learning how to play the guitar could be a lot of tough work. But then, no-one ever recounted it’d be straightforward, only that it might be worthwhile.

A Brief History Of Yamaha Electric Guitars

With over a hundred years of experience manufacturing musical instruments, Yamaha is universally acknowledged as the producer some of the world’s finest instruments. Yamaha started guitar production in the mid 1940′s and from that day to this have produced a wide variety of guitars to fulfil the needs of all players, from beginner to enthusiast and on to professional.

In February of 1964 The Beatles appeared on the “Ed Sullivan Show” in the USA and at a stroke the music world was changed, the electric guitar was here to stay. In the wake of this Yamaha began producing solid body electric guitars at their Hamamatsu facility in 1965 and early models of both electric and electric bass guitars debuted in 1966.

By the mid 1970′s legendary guitar artists such as Carlos Santana began to use Yamaha Guitars eschewing some of the great American brand names in favour of the unique features and superb build quality provided by these instruments. With the development of the SG2000 model in consultation with Carlos Santana, with it’s through neck construction and patented “T-Cross System” and “Sustain Plate”, Yamaha truly broke the mould, and in doing so the stranglehold of the two big American manufacturers. These innovations gave the instrument monumental sustain in conjunction with a powerful and warm tonality. With the ringing endorsement of legendary musicians such as Bob Marley, Steve Cropper, Phil Manzanera, and Carlos Rios, Yamaha’s SG range of guitars had sealed their place amongst the elite manufacturers of electric guitars. From there on Yamaha Guitars have gone from strength to strength, not just producing the instruments we see being used by some of the worlds great guitar innovators, but also truly blazing a trail in the production of high quality, affordable instruments for beginners and intermediate players alike.

At the end of the 1980′s Yamaha Guitar Development opened in North Hollywood, California. One of the first designs to come from there was the Pacifica series, this was a quantum leap for Yamaha Guitars, as it was an instrument designed and prototyped in the American custom shop with direct input from pro players. From this series there is a direct lineage to the entry level Yamaha guitars produced today. Today Yamaha provide a range of electric and bass guitars to cover all genres and to suit every pocket, so whether you aspire to the adrenaline fuelled world of hard rock, the smooth sophistication of jazz or anywhere in between there is something for you.

In the same way that the SG2000 took the electric guitar world by storm, in 1977 the release of the Yamaha “Broad Bass” or BB1200 bass guitar turned the world of bass guitarists upside down. Once again Yamaha were amongst the forerunners in the introduction of through neck construction, with it’s enhanced sustain characteristics and inherent advantages in terms of stability. This coupled with peerless build quality made the BB basses an instant hit, with Paul McCartney himself playing a BB1200S in the early 1980′s. To this day Yamaha’s place in the world of bass has been ensured with great session players like Abraham Laboriel and Nathan East playing Yamaha Basses, alongside cutting edge artists such as Billy Sheehan, John Patitucci and John Myung. Once again the developments made with these wonderful musicians are put to good use in the instruments Yamaha make for beginners and intermediate players making for a great playing experience for all.

A brief look at some of the legendary names that have wielded Yamaha guitars and bass guitars gives you an idea of the exalted company you’ll be keeping when you buy yours. Jimmy Page, Paul Simon, Bob Seger, James Taylor, John Denver, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen, Brian May, Carlos Santana, Bob Marley, Lee Ritenour, Martin Taylor, Nathan East, Billy Sheehan, Michael Anthony… the list goes on.

The Wild Streak in ESP Guitars

When you’re looking for a guitar that’s finely built but that can withstand the abuse of hard rock, alternative and heavy metal, ESP guitars have it all. Made from the finest woods and finishes with strings and hardware that can hold up to shredding and wailing, ESP Guitars hold their own and have been successfully selling guitars since the 70s.

Though most models of ESP guitars have been prided on being designed or influenced by a well-known and established artist, the manufacturer also provides guitarists with a traditional line of electrics and basses to choose from. It’s hardly a wonder why this guitar company has been labeled the number one in heavy duty guitars and instruments throughout the world.

How ESP Began

In 1975 Hisatake Shibuya began selling custom replacement guitar parts for various guitar companies. He called his company Electric Sound Products and it didn’t take long for Shibuya to begin making his own Japanese guitars as well. He released his work under the ESP and Navigator brand names but was, at the time, limited to the Japanese market.

In 1983 however, ESP replacement parts were introduced to the states and were immediately recognized as quality parts by local musicians. Right away the buzz about these high end custom parts landed ESP the reputation of custom instrument maker for popular New York artists. Famous guitarists like Page Hamilton, Bruce Kulick and Ronnie Wood came to ESP for parts and wound up with their very own guitars. This new found source of popularity and income allowed ESP to next release the 400 Series, the first of ESP Guitars for the United States.

While enjoying the new found success that ESP experienced in America, the company was still providing services for other guitar manufacturers. For instance, ESP began making the bodies and necks for Kramer Guitars and various other parts for Robin Guitars, Dimarzio and Schecter. From then on out, ESP continued to branch out in many fields of guitar making, including creating custom guitars for many other stars like George Lynch, Kirk Hammet, and more recently, James Hetfield and Matt DeVries.
The early 90s brought some more bright success to ESP Guitars when they expanded their Signature Series and many of their products. The company ceased focus on replacement parts and was now in full swing, a guitar manufacturer. In fact, in 93 ESP opened headquarters in L.A. and in 96 the company opened a sister company called LTD whose parts came from Indonesia, keeping overhead inexpensive. Finally, in 2002, ESP was labeled as one of the music industry’s fastest growing companies. Just 3 years later the company celebrated its 30th anniversary and released James Hetfield’s Truckster in honor.

The Hottest ESP Models

Currently ESP offers dozens of top notch, hard core machines at mid to high-range prices. Definitely worth every penny, of course, most come with ESP’s own Gotoh custom tuners and pickups and many are also graced with gold or black hardware that’s attractive and sturdy. Here’s a run down of ESP’s current, most popular models:

ESP Standard Series

Whether you’re getting the Eclipse for some soft, melodic thrashing, the M-II for traditional wailing and jamming, the Horizon for colorful but traditional jamming or the Viper for serious shredding, you’re getting a quality instrument with the capacity for endurance. All of the Standard Series guitars come with Gotoh Standard Tuners at the very least and many are equipped with Gotoh Magnum Lock Tuners for more control. Also enjoy the crisp and unique sound of the EMG pickups that the entire Standard Series comes with.

ESP Vintage Series

For a warm, traditional sound, the ESP Vintage Series is perfect. The Vintage Plus, which comes in cream or red, has chrome hardware, Gotoh Magnum Lock Tuners, a Wilkinson Vintage Bridge and Seymore Duncan Pickups. Truly traditional.

LTD Deluxe Series

Wild colors, extreme action and great hardware. Let’s look closer:

- EC 1000 Series: Wildly colored and finished, this guitar isn’t just a pretty face. This axe comes with black nickel or gold hardware depending on your color choice, ESP Locking Tuners, TonePros Locking Bridge & Tail and EMG Pickups.

- H-1001 Series: Teal, purple or black, this machine comes with black nickel hardware, ESP Locking Tuners, a TonePros Locking Bridge and your choice of EMG or Duncan Pickups.

- M 1000 Series: This pretty, gothic-style guitar comes with a uniquely finished Alder body, flamed Maple top, Maple neck, Rosewood fingerboard, black nickel hardware, Grover Tuners, a Floyd Rose Bridge and EMG Pickups. This is a gorgeous guitar that purrs like a black cat.

Who Loves Their ESP?

To conclude, the long list of well known, hard core rockers that use and endorse ESP Guitars is astounding. They have long been collecting a laundry list of eager players who not only enjoy using standard ESP Guitars but who have also longed for an ESP of their own design. I leave you with those who did finally get their very own ESP design:

I Want To Do That!

Have you ever been to a rock concert or a country concert – or a concert or performance from most any music genre? Did you wonder what the lead singer would really sound like without that music playing behind him/her? Most people would not be able to pull off an entire performance with no music playing – I would forget the words without music! At some point during that performance, the lead singer probably stepped aside and gave the floor to the band – each musician performing a solo. Drum solos are exciting, sure – but, when that guitar player starts making his/her fingers walk and talk across those strings, there is nothing in the world like it! You and your buddies are standing there thinking, “I wish I could play a guitar like that!” – and, so as easily as you can type the words “guitar lessons”, you can be on your way to learning to play like that!

Online Guitar Lessons

While everyone would probably prefer sitting down with a teacher who has been playing the guitar and learning everything they know, not all of us can afford to do that. With that in mind, we will cover the pros of online guitar lessons. One of the best things about free guitar lessons online is that you choose your schedule – when and how long you can practice. When you take lessons in the real world, you are on someone else’s schedule – and not being able to arrange your schedule to allow lessons on that person’s time may prevent you from being able to learn. But, when you are taking guitar lessons online, you determine when you can practice and for how long at a time – giving you the freedom to keep your schedule as it was before.

One thing to think about if you are taking guitar lessons is the noise – because guitars a musical instrument and do make noise! If you must take your lessons in the evening or late at night – free acoustic guitar lessons may be what you need. Many people begin with the acoustic guitar. There are a couple of reasons for this: beginners can purchase an inexpensive guitar so that if they decide later that playing the guitar is not for them, they have not spent a fortune on an electric guitar and the accessories that go along with it – and the noise level is much lower than when you are using an amplifier with an electric guitar, because the amplifier does just what its name states – amplifies! So, if you are true beginner, you may want to purchase an acoustic guitar and after you see how things are going and decide you are serious about learning to play, you can move up to an electric guitar. No matter how you decide to approach your guitar lessons, there is one thing to keep in mind – Slash was not born playing the guitar like he does, there was a point in time where he, too, had to take guitar lessons, whether do-it-yourself or with a music teacher. So, do not expect to plug in that electric guitar and be transformed into Slash – it just will not happen!

The Guitar – Strung Out

The guitar is a member of the string family of instruments. Most guitars have six strings, while more complex ones have 12 strings. A guitar is made of a long neck separated by frets (sections marked with metal bars) and a hollow body with a wide hole. The strings extend from the top of the neck, over the hole, to the bottom. Guitars are usually made of wood and metal. The strings are usually made out of nylon or steel. Nylon strings are recommended for beginners because they’re a little easier on the fingers. Frets or sections are marked off on the neck of the guitar to help players identify chords. By pressing your fingers against the strings in different ways, different chords are produced. When you hold a chord while strumming the strings you produce sounds and notes. These sounds are amplified by the hollow body.

The Guitar – Learning To Play

Some schools offer guitar lessons as part of their music program. If you’re interested in learning to play and lessons aren’t available at school, you can also sign-up for private lessons. If this isn’t an option for you, you could also try teaching yourself by using a beginner instructional books or DVDs. In fact, many of the world’s best guitarists learned to play by teaching themselves.

Guitar Lessons Are Expensive

Yeah – if you pay someone to sit down with you and give you one on one attention. But, in a world where “do-it-yourself” has become a way of life; you can learn to play the guitar on your own – without the expense of guitar lessons. Free guitar lessons are right at your fingertips!

If you have never touched a guitar and have no idea where to even begin, there are websites that offer free guitar lessons for beginners. Check out several before you choose one to work with because some people have different ideas about beginner guitar lessons – some assume that the guitar student may know what the notes are and how to read them and others assume that the guitar player is an absolute beginner and will teach you about music as well as how to play your guitar. No matter what learning stage you have reached, you can find free online guitars lessons to suit your needs. If you are an absolute beginner, be sure to find a website that caters to beginners who know nothing, but want to learn everything!
If you want to know more about this articles, You can go and them at

With its many capabilities and functions, the acoustic guitar is popular, yet classic instrument. The beautiful sound and finish make this a popular choice for those wanting to learn to play. The wide variety of sound provides endless opportunities along side the different styles like the bass and multi-stringed versions.

A traditional style guitar contains 6 strings. The traditional style is usually not compatible with the use of an amp but modifications have been made to the original design that now includes a port for amp use. The traditional style is good for beginners. It allows for easy mastery of different cords, notes, and rifts. Many options are available so that if one wanted to learn this type, the instrument and learning guides are available as a kit and can contain the shoulder strap, bag or case, and picks to help get started or one can go with an instructor

Some styles can have as many as 12 strings and are a little harder to learn. With a wider variety of notes and cords, the fundamentals are still the same. It is recommended that someone wanting to learn this instrument take lessons with an instructor as it can be confusing.

The Bass usually has four strings and is used to help keep time and melody with other instruments but can be played on its own. Usually longer in size, the same kit options are available for those wanting to learn. There are also many instructors that offer lessons on both the Bass and the traditional style.

A more advanced version of the bass is available and can have as many as 7 strings. This allows for a larger range of sound and in tuning. More difficult to master than the original bass, this style is still less complicated than the 12 string traditional guitar. Instructors are available for lessons but books and other media are available as well.

With many different types, styles, and options available, learning the acoustic guitar is possible. Accepted as a classical instrument by most performing art schools, it is a classic instrument to learn and is widely accepted. With a little effort and time one can learn to play through books, lessons, tapes, or other media with ease.

When you already have mastered an acoustic guitar, you could be planning to move on to another instrument. Learning how to play an electric guitar is a logical next step for many aspiring musicians.
