Seven Techniques To Warm Up Your Voice

Ask any professional athlete and they will stress the importance of a proper warm-up and stretching regime before the start of any strenuous workout. In their own way, singers are athletes, too vocal athletes. So before you start belting out those show tunes or rock out on a retro Pat Benatar song, you need to warm up your voice. Just as you ease into a hamstring stretch before a gym class, warming up your voice needs to be done in stages. Here are seven techniques to safely and thoroughly warm up your voice.

Relax. Tilt you head to the right while gently lowering your left shoulder. Then tilt your head left while pushing down the right shoulder. Open your mouth and stick your tongue out as far as it will go. Shrug your shoulders, hold then slowly release. Repeat several times.

Get your diaphragm prepared. The diaphragm is located under the lungs and causes them to inflate. To warm up your diaphragm, take some deep breaths and slowly exhale. Concentrate on letting your stomach expand and contract.

Pay attention to your breathing. Take a deep breath, hold it, then exhale in short bursts. Repeat several times. Remember to be mindful of your posture.

Hum. Dont go for any extreme stay midrange to start and keep the volume moderate. Dont hum melodies; hum sounds and do it with your mouth closed.

Perform vocal exercises. Make vowels sounds such as ahhh, ooooh exaggerating your mouth movement.

Do scales. First go slowly, holding each note as long as you can. Then sing up and down a scale, gradually increasing in volume.

Vibrate your lips. Purse your lips and make a motorboat sound so that your lips vibrate.

Singing is an expression of your body so pamper your voice by getting enough sleep, eating right, exercising and staying hydrated. If you take care of yourself, you voice will stay strong and healthy, too.

Guitar Lessons for Children – Playing Beautiful Songs

Are you looking for guitar lessons for children so that your child can learn to play the guitar? Learning the guitar requires time and effort. The method of learning will also affect your child’s ability to learn and master guitar. The tips below provide useful information which will help your child succeed in learning the guitar.

Below are a number of items which you need to be aware of before your child starts to learn to play the guitar.

* Skills required–

To learn to play the guitar is one of the hardest instrument to master. It requires a reasonable amount of attention, coordination, an ability to understand musical concepts and a feel for musical notes and rhythm. The recommended age is around seven but it can be earlier for some kids.

* Keep them interested–

If you want to ensure that your child sticks to the guitar lessons then you will need to make sure that they are being kept interested. You don’t want the lessons to be a chore, you want them to enjoy them and want another one very soon. If your child finds learning the guitar enjoyable, then the possibility of him or her continue to play the guitar is high. Some guitar lessons have games included as part of the lessons and your child will find this a fun way to learn.

* Size of the guitar–

Consider buying or hiring a smaller guitar, although they are not as easily available as larger guitars. With a guitar size suited to your child, it will make learning to play the guitar more enjoyable. In addition to that, your child’s learning ability will also be enhanced.

* Guitar tutor–

Although it may seem like a fantastic idea trying to give guitar lessons for children yourself, it can be stressful. Remember not to put too much pressure on your child as it takes time to learn and master guitar. When choosing for a guitar tutor for private or group lessons, make sure he or she is patient and passionate in teaching. Alternatively, find an online guitar program that has a good course content and structure.

* Online guitar lessons at home–

If your child is learning well then they may benefit from guitar lessons for children at home. Online lessons have become the new way of learning the guitar. It has many advantages over the conventional guitar lessons. For a low one- off fee, you can get good online programs offering guitar lessons of high standard. This means your child can learn to play the guitar at home.

* Encouragement–

Encourage your child and show them how pleased you are with their progress and how much they have improved. With this support, they will feel confident to advance to a higher level in the guitar lesson. Providing your child with the support can improve his or her learning progress.

Guitar lessons for children give your child the opportunity to gain an amazing skill. Your child has the option to continue to learn and master guitar as a wonderful hobby or to becoming a professional guitarist. As long as they are enjoying themselves that is all that matters. Giving them the correct guitar to learn with and the time and support will be the greatest thing you can do for them.

Question by Nomnom: Can you play taylor swift’s songs on a classic guitar ?
i have a classical guitar, and i really wanna learn how to play the songs, “teardrops on my guitar”, “love story” and “never grow up” on my guitar… but can i ? or do i need an acoustic guitar ?
and whats the difference between those two guitars ? thanks

Best answer:

Answer by jeligula
Yes, you can. A classical guitar differs only in that it has nylon strings instead of steel strings and the neck is a bit wider. The scale and the frets are just the same. I play fingerstyle classical and have converted lots of rock songs that are normal played with a pick on an electric guitar over the a classical.
Quite simple, really. Taylor Swift should be duck soup.

For more guitar lessons, see my other free tutorials. For original and cover music by me, Erich, go to www.myspace.com . Since I’m so busy making new video tutorial lessons all the time and teaching guitar, I probably won’t have time to answer individual questions regarding guitar. Other videos cover beginner, advanced and intermediate levels. I teach rock, blues, country and just about any other style on electric or acoustic. If you can’t find your answer from the resources at the website above, keep digging into my vids, and I’m sure you will find your answer. Keep practicing!!!
