What I love about the internet is how it enhances learning in every field, including the field of musical instruction. You would do well to take advantage of the many tools on the internet that teach guitar. A lot of these programs, like Jamorama and Music Master Pro make it fun, NOT tedious, to master the guitar. They utilize video lessons, taught by real guitar pros, and music files that you can jam along to.
Guitar lessons when I was a child involved having a tutor come to my home, and we’d spend tedious hours over sheet music. Sure I learned, eventually. But honestly, I dreaded the lessons. I dreaded the sound of his car pulling up before my lesson. It doesn’t have to be this way.
Practice can be fun, if the lessons are fun. It can be fun to master the guitar if your teacher is having a good time doing it.
If you’re a beginner at guitar, you don’t realize how lucky you are, having tools online that you can download, lessons that you can get right on your computer that make practice fun. I wish I had these when I was younger…that’s why I recommend them to kids I meet that ask me to teach them how to play. I’d happily teach them, but what’s available online is worth 10 me’s to them.
