What are those weird purple strings connecting the notes in Guitar Hero World Tour?

I don't know what to do when they come up and it dosen't say in the instruction manual.

they are slider notes.
If we are talking about the same thing…the notes look purply…
You do not have to pick those notes.
Just click the colored buttons.
