Don't have the time for a private instructor, so I'm pretty much stuck with the internet or DVDs. I've done my searches and there are many, but what is the best way for someone who actually wants to learn to play, not just read tabs. Experienced, knowledgeable answers only please.
to tell you the truth, the best guitarists are those that forget about the DVD's, tab, and just play. the best way of learning the guitar is by have lots of practise and lots of motivation. most people end up quitting guitar because they're not willing to put in the time. my suggestions would be to listen to lots of music for inspiration, and practise, practise, practice. learn the basic chords and scales to start and move up into pentatonics. just remember this, when taking guitar lessons, you are there to learn about theory and "how" to play. most people quit lessons because the don't get to 'play.' thats what practising is for
