I’ve been playing for a little while now and i think I have pretty much mastered the notes on the 6 strings (from the high A to the low G). What should I work on learning next? I have yet to learn chords, but I’m not really sure in what direction to head in with that. I am also taking guitar courses in the fall and I want to be ahead of everyone else. Any help is appreciated!
Learn simple songs that you like. You can improve your playing skills and have fun at the same time. You SHOULD learn the chords. Start with A, then A#, Then B, etc. Take it slow and develop your finger strength. Make sure that every note rings out clearly. Don’t rush it. It’ll take time for your fingers to adjust to the pain and tension. Callouses will develop in your fingers. That’s a good thing.
Just take it slow, and learn the major and minor chords. From there, learn the Major and Pentatonic scales.
