I have been playing for 1 year what song by now are sort of like a standard that i should be able to play. Right now i play like tool and 3 days grace stuff . (trying some harder iron maiden stuff now) I have trouble with solo tho so don't say like van halen. Thanks
You should have the basics down so i would say things with fast strumming in the songs, do like Jimi Hendrix, motley crue, Judas Priest, or just experiment by yourself. Find out what chords sound good together,and experiment with solos , because solos don't have to be flashy to be good. Take Alex Lifeson of Rush for example, he doesn't do many flashly solos and hes still a great guitarist.
